Turnips are generally available and best in May and June although they can be purchased outside these main crop months.

Turnips are green and white in colour.
Avoid spongy or soft turnips which will probably be woody in texture.

Preparation

Wash the turnips until they are clean and peel.

Cut them into the required shape for cooking.
