Boiling
Most pasta can be boiled in shallow pans of boiling salted water. General rules for boiling pasta are:
1.
Use a very large pan of fast boiling salted water.
2.
Always add the pasta when the water is boiling well & stir to prevent the pasta sticking.
3.
Strain immediately after cooking.
4.
Pasta is cooked Al Dente, means to have a firm bite.
5.
Do not over cook pasta or starch will become sticky and form a solid mass.
Steaming
Pasta can be heated or re-heated using a low pressure steamer or new multi-cooker units which use a combination of boiling and steaming.
