This
is one of the longer grain types
with dry flaky loose characteristics.

good quality long grain rice’s
especially for savoury recipes, a
well known label being that of ‘Uncle
Bens’.
Wild Rice is
a long grained rice type used in cooking
as a farce for
game, poultry and as a cold salad
in its cooked form.
It
has a nutty flavour and is of a grey-brown
colour.
Not strictly
a grain but a water grass found as
a native plant in North America.
Cooking
hints: 1 cup of raw wild rice makes
3 to 4 cups cooked wild rice.. This
rice needs to be soaked for 15 minutes
and then cooked with three parts
to one part wild rice of water for
40 minutes. Steam for 5 minutes
before serving.
