Rice is grown mainly in wet hot countries such as the Far East, Southern America, USA and especially India.
Rice is a staple diet for many of the populations' of these countries and has grown in popularity in Europe over the past 20 years.
The many uses of rice
The uses of rice are wide ranging, used for desserts as well as savoury recipes, the growth in healthy eating has made popular - brown, Basmati and wild types of rice grain.

Used as a snack food, as a side dish or as an accompaniment to dishes usually but not always in a sauce, curry, fricassee etc.
Rice can be eaten as a farinaceous course prior to the main meal, braised in the oven, cooked on top of the stove as a savoury risotto, milk pudding desserts hot and cold or used to garnish soups.
