Bringing together my skills as a multimedia producer and developer together with extensive experience in online learning, I am currently working in the department of Medical Education at King's College London.

In addition to providing e-learning support for campus staff and students, I am currently leading on the provision of an international distance learning programme for a global pharma company

Role and responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with academic staff and subject matter experts to design, develop and deliver an innovative suite of technology enhanced learning solutions.
  • Management of project aims and outcomes including setting and adhering to project milestones. Close liaison with all project stakeholders.
  • Identifying the need for and provision of training for staff and students. eTutoring
  • Design, scripting, development, testing, implementation and evaluation of online learning materials and resources.
  • Keynote presentations as well as informal advice and guidance given on e-learning best practices � both college-wide (academic staff and colleagues) and beyond (including PharmaTrain and the Royal College of Physicians' Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine).

Achievements:

  • Liaising with teaching staff to identify areas for curriculum enhancement in terms of electronic resource provision.

Lead in the design, build and implementation of the course materials for a distance learning foundation degree in Health Informatics run jointly with Kingston University and The Royal Holloway.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Key reports and presentations to the course validation committee.
  • Collaborating with lecturers and other subject matter experts.
  • Identifying the need for, and providing, training sessions for staff and students.
  • Design, scripting, development, testing, implementation and evaluation of learning materials.
  • eTutoring and student support.

Achievements:

  • Development of a framework for the efficient transition of a face-to-face course to a distance learning mode of delivery.
  • Key contributions to the curriculum design process.
  • Successful management of multiple projects and course modules and coordination across three partner institutions.
  • Developed a wide range of innovative, engaging and effective learning materials and assessments. From self-paced online activities to interactive case studies, software simulations and video SBLs.
  • Evaluation, procurement and administration of the necessary online systems to facilitate the teaching of the course (VLE, ePortfolio and web conferencing).
  • Asked to join the university's Biomedical Informatics course committee in order to share my expertise and advise on enriching existing courses with best practice blended learning strategies.

Other projects have included the development of an interactive Virtual Clinic intended to provide students with an immersive and engaging interface for contextualised learning activities. The project has recently secured funding from the South West London Academic Network (SWAN) in the form of an award for Innovation in Education and Research Technologies.

Freelance Multimedia Designer/Developer

Consultancy, design and development for The Flexible Learning Network and World Health Organisation Pacific Open Learning Health Net (POLHN). XHTML/CSS template design, flash video and quiz engine for online and CD-ROM delivery of health education materials

Prototyping and build of a diagnostic training resource for Wellington hospital's Respiratory Medicine Department, New Zealand. Flash authored interactive stethoscope simulation with mp3 playback.

Design and build of an e-commerce content management system for Jolly Babies (Cardiff).

Full site redesign for FriendlyFireMusic.com, record label promotional website.

Multimedia Designer and Developer

Lead design and development role on the government funded NZ-OER project.

Focusing on the creation of Open Educational Resources for this international digital repository, my main focus was on the development of educational courseware from an open source perspective. This included contributing to a model for the creation, re-use and repurposing of learning materials.

Key Achievements:

  • Brought commercial development strategies from the private into the public sector.
  • Established project management strategies and processes to deliver effective projects on time. Initiated and developed a range of solutions for large collaborative, learning materials projects.
  • Initiated and developed a range of standards compliant templates, training colleagues in their use and underlying principles (web semantics, inclusive design theory etc.).
  • Developed, implemented and managed user testing procedures for internal and external development projects.
  • Instigated the use of modular production strategies by creating a range of re-useable/repurposeable flash objects: video, audio and assessment materials. Objects designed to be updated or repurposed without any knowledge of Flash.
  • Worked effectively with clients (students, tutors and external bodies) to provide design and learning design expertise; suggesting the right medium for delivery as dictated by the curriculum, content and user needs. Linking objects to teaching and learning styles.

Founder member. Worked on key client and media development projects. Managing project teams to deliver multimedia promotional materials and development solutions on time and to budget. Projects included:

  • Interactive CDROM and video presentation for Fujitsu Ten (English and Japanese language versions). Role: project manager, lead designer, senior 3D/CGI animator.
  • Broadcast ident for Wildfire Television. Role: director, digital artist and compositor.

HuncaMunca Music Productions Ltd.

Producer

Senior member of this music production company's creative team, responsible for ensuring that all projects were completed and delivered to deadline and within budget.

  • Promotional artwork (video promos, flyers, posters, T-shirts) design and production (managing production processes, commissioning and delivery).
  • Building and editing company websites. Design, construction and maintenance. Chairing production meetings and implementing decisions through five versions of these promotional websites.
  • Writing tenders, pitching and liaising with clients.
  • A&R: co-ordinating rehearsals and recording sessions, compiling promotional CDs as well as administrative tasks such as chairing meetings and financial management.
  • Supervised studio upgrade to full sound to picture capability. Responsibilities included purchasing equipment, installation and day to day operation.

Key Achievements:

  • Producer and composer of soundtrack for the Sundance winner feature '2by4'. Mix supervision. Other scores include Middlemarch Channel4 documentary and 'Refuge'.
  • Co-produced and engineered the album 'Make Believe Love' for Nigel Clark (ex-Dodgy)  [more info]
  • Promotional video for 'The Future Trust' (formerly WarChild). Music production (with Nigel Clark), 3DSMAX4 CGI animation and AfterFX5 video compositing. Senior Designer. This nine minute pop promo was made to a brief agreed through creative meetings with the charity and has been broadcast around the world.
  • Senior live engineer for the annual Hope music festival. Booking PA and audio equipment, supervising the construction of the rigs on all stages. Live engineering on main stage.
  • Concert for Sennheiser UK at Expo2000, Hanover , Germany . Liaising with Expo staff regarding technical requirements, performing and VJing (live video mixing).
  • Recording field trip to Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and Salvador do Bahia). Organized to supplement HuncaMunca's music library this involved hiring all audio equipment and booking sessions with local musicians.

1995 - 1998

Remixer / programmer / producer for the top ten UK band 'Dodgy'. Work included programming and additional production on the platinum selling album 'Free Peace Sweet', recording B-sides and an album of remixes, performing and recording with the band in the UK and Europe.

Assistant to George Chkiantz (sound engineer for Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Stones). Duties included studio maintenance and recording sessions. Complete studio installation undertaken for the Guildhall School of Music.

1992 - 1994

Tape-operator and sound engineering work at the Red Shop/Madhouse studio, London . Renovation of the studio space to APRS standards, consideration of live-room and monitoring acoustics, implementation of wiring schedules, maintenance (day to day and equipment refits) and running client sessions.

Percussion workshops at The New Canteen, an East London youth centre for disadvantaged teenagers.

1990 - 1992

Drummer in 'The Pelican Retorts'. Live work at festivals, circuit gigs and recordings for Flat Records.

Project leader for the charity Runways. Costing and fund-raising for a music therapy centre.

Marketing assistant with HMC (UK) Limited. Public liaison, customer support and general administrative tasks such as typing, filing and updating records.
